Questionable Teachings of Islam:
One Billion People Deceived
Islamic theology teaches that Allah created seven (7) heavens:
"He who created the seven heavens one above the other: No want of proportion wilt thou
see in the creation of (Allah) Most Gracious..."
(Qur'an 067.003)
According to Islamic teachings, the seven heavens are occupied by God's "Prophets" in
the ascending order (as described in Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 5, Book 58, No. 227)
First Heaven: Adam
Second Heaven: Yahya (John the Baptist) and Isa (Jesus)
Third Heaven: Joseph
Fourth Heaven: Idris
Fifth Heaven: Harun (Aaron)
Sixth Heaven: Moses
Seventh Heaven: Abraham*
*Sahih Muslim Book 001, No. 0313 places Abraham in the Sixth Heaven.
Muhammad's visit to the seven heavens is based on the Islamic account of the "Night
Journey," whereby the angel, Gabriel (Jibreel), opened up Muhammad's chest, took his
heart out and washed it clean. After replacing Muhammad's heart, a steed was sent to
carry Muhammad up into the seven levels of heaven while being escorted by Jibreel.
According to Muslim interpretation, the event took place from Jerusalem where the
Mosque (Dome of the Rock) sets today. Other Islamic sources cite the "Night Journey"
only as a dream that Muhammad had and not an actual trip to seven levels of heaven.
Other Islamic interpretations teach that there are also seven (7) levels of earth which are
believed to be levels of "hell." These are where evil-doers are sent based upon the degree
of their punishment. (Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 4, Book 54, No. 420)
Analysis #2
Judaic and Christian theologies do not teach that Creation included seven levels of
heavens and seven levels of hell.
