Questionable Teachings of Islam:
One Billion People Deceived
Analyzing Islamic Theology
Part 5: Say That Again!
All religious thoughts and political ideologies should be subject to scrutiny and debate
when one is seeking Truth. In this section, we conclude the analysis of Islamic theology
with a look at some sayings attributed to Muhammad. Many of the following examples
could normally be considered superstitious beliefs and would very well have one ask a
lecturer to repeat what has been stated just to be sure they heard it right the first time.
It is up to the reader to determine the validity of each one: (Wherever "pbuh" appears, it
indicates "peace be upon him;" a Muslim regard to Muhammad)
1) A man who holds his temper will get a "large-eyed maiden" in paradise:
"The Apostle of Allah (pbuh) said: 'If anyone suppresses anger when he is in a position to
vent it, Allah, the Exalted will call him on the day of Resurrection over the heads of all
creatures, and ask him to choose any of the bright and large eyed maidens he wishes."'
(Sunan Abu-Dawud: Book 41, No. 4759)
2) Satan spends the night inside a person's nose:
"...The Apostle of Allah (pbuh) said, 'When any one of you awakes up from sleep and
performs ablution, he must clean his nose three times, for the devil spends the night in
the interior of his nose."
(Sahih Muslim: Book 002, No. 0462)
3) The cry of a newborn infant is caused by Satan:
"...No child is born but he is pricked by the Satan and he begins to weep because of the
pricking of the Satan...(Sahih Muslim, Book 030, No. 5837)
4) Muhammad performed a miracle by "splitting the moon in two":
"The moon was split (into two pieces) while we were with the Prophet in Mina. He said,
'Be witnesses.' Then a piece of the moon went towards the mountain. (Sahih Bukhari: Vol.
5, Book 58, No. 209)
(also mentioned in: Vol.4, Book 56, No. 830-832, Vol. 6, Book 60, No. 387, )
